Cooking
Ovens, cookers and hobs
The part of the kitchen that gets used every day. We supply it, fit it, and sign off the gas and the electrics with our own engineers.
What we supply
Three things to get right in a cooking area
Most kitchens use two of these together. We will make sure they suit each other before you order.
-
Ovens
Single, double, built-in and built-under. Compact ovens add a microwave, steam or coffee function and stack neatly above a main oven in a tall housing.
-
Cookers
Freestanding and range cookers in gas, electric and dual fuel, and models with an induction top. Widths run from 50cm up to 110cm and beyond.
-
Hobs
Gas, electric and induction, plus venting hobs that pull the steam down through the middle instead of up into a hood.
Choosing
What to think about before you order
Cooking jobs usually go wrong for one of three reasons: the fuel supply is not there, the housing is the wrong size, or nobody checked the extraction. Send a photo of the space and we will check all three before you commit to anything.
- Fuel: gas needs a Gas Safe connection, induction often needs its own circuit
- Cut-outs: measure the housing, not the appliance you are taking out
- Double ovens need a tall housing, or a proper built-under space
- Induction and pans: cast iron and most stainless work, aluminium does not
- Extraction: match the hood to the hob before you buy either one
Brands
The cooking brands we supply
Everything from a straightforward built-in oven to a hand-built range cooker. Open a brand to see what they do, then ask for a quote.
Common questions
Questions we get most weeks
Will you take the old cooker away?
Yes, it is part of the standard install. We disconnect the old appliance, take it away, remove the packaging, connect the new one, level it and refit the doors, plinths and trims.
Do I need a Gas Safe engineer?
For anything connected to gas, yes, by law. We employ and train our own Gas Safe engineers, so the people who deliver it are the people who connect it.
Is induction worth the wiring work?
Often it is. Induction heats faster than gas and wipes clean in seconds. It usually needs its own circuit, so we check the consumer unit and the cable run before we quote. Our electricians handle that side of it.
Will a new oven fit my existing housing?
Usually, but not always. Oven heights have changed over the years and integrated fronts vary between brands. Send us the internal measurements of the housing and we will confirm before anything is ordered.
